Banana is one of the most beautiful fruits on our planet. I personally love it very much and consider it an ideal meal for everyone, especially if I add some dates to it.

This mixture gives me great energy and also a feeling of satiety.

That is why in this post, we will discuss how to preserve peeled bananas, as well as how to preserve unpeeled bananas

Now let’s get started.

How Do You Store Peeled Bananas?

I will share with you today different ways to preserve peeled bananas, but before we talk about these methods, you must determine how long the bananas should be kept because each storage period has a specific method of preservation.

How Do You Store Peeled Bananas for less than a month?

If you have a large number of bananas and you want to peel them and keep them for less than a month, you can follow the following methods to keep the bananas ripe and unripe for less than a month.

In these ways, you can store bananas in the refrigerator or freezer.

1- Store Peeled Bananas using lemon juice.

In this method, you will need to cut the bananas into small pieces, then soak them in lemon juice for 5 to 10 minutes, then take them out, but without washing them.

After removing the bananas, put them on a plate or bowl, and then put them in the refrigerator.

Based on my personal experience, this method makes peeled bananas valid for between 3 weeks to a month in the refrigerator.

2-Store Peeled Bananas using lemon water & crushed Vitamin C

In this method, you will need crushed vitamin C and soaked in water for two or three hours
Then prepare the banana and cut it into small pieces, then put the banana in it for 10 minutes, then take it out and put it in a bowl in the refrigerator or freezer.

The advantage of this method: is that when you use bananas, there will be no traces of the taste of vitamin C on the bananas.

The disadvantage of this method is the rather high cost.

3- Using vinegar to store peeled bananas

In this method, we will use vinegar to store peeled bananas. We will need a cup of white vinegar and a liter of water, then stir them together.
Take banana pieces and put them in a solution of vinegar and water for 5 minutes.

Then take out the bananas and put them in the fridge.

This method preserves bananas for a month or a little more

What distinguishes this method is its low cost and ease

As for what is wrong with it, it is that the taste of vinegar may remain in the banana, which changes its taste a little

Note: The goal of all of the above methods is to prevent the rapid oxidation of bananas in order to keep them fresh

How Do You Store Peeled Bananas for more than a month?

The previous methods are very useful when keeping bananas for a period of no more than a month. But if you decide to store peeled bananas for a long time, here you should freeze the bananas. Here are the most important tips that you should do before storing.

1- Make sure that the bananas don’t have rotten parts and are also not unripe.
2- It is preferable to use a zip lock bag.
3- It is preferable to use vacuum sealing to pull the air well.
4- The date and time must be put on the bags before placing them in the freezer.
5- When using jars to preserve peeled bananas, they must be tightly closed.

Peeled bananas can be placed in a zip lock bag in the form of slices or without cutting, preferably without cutting so that the bananas are sticky while drawing air from inside the bags.

If you are going to use a jar for storage, it is preferable to cut the banana into small slices

After placing the bananas in the storage container, put them in the freezer and they will be valid and fresh for up to 6 months

How to store unpeeled bananas.

The reason why bananas ripen quickly is that bananas produce ethylene gas to help the banana ripen. Ethylene is produced from the tops to the bananas.

Therefore, if you want to store bananas for a long time, you must reduce the production of bananas
For ethylene gas.

I have 2 solutions for you.

1- Cover the top of the banans with a wrap.

n this way, you can tie the top of each banana separately using a wrap and put it at room temperature.

There are some people who cover more than one banana together, but I tried this method and it did not work as effectively as the previous method, so it is preferable to have each banana separately.

2-Use ethylene gas absorber for the fridge.

If you don’t like the shape of a banana covered in syrup or you want a much better result than this, you may consider buying an ethylene gas absorber for the fridge, it is very effective

Personally, I tried this ethylene gas absorber and it was great I think everyone should have it in their kitchen.

All you have to do is put the banana with an ethylene gas absorber, cover it well, and then put it in the fridge
This method keeps bananas fresh for more than 15 days

Which is better to store peeled or unpeeled bananas?

The answer to this question depends on the purpose of storage and also how the banana will be consumed after storage,

but as a general rule, bananas should be stored peeled because the outer peel of the banana becomes softer and also changes its color to brown and it becomes difficult to peel after that (this happens as a result of ethylene gas as we mentioned previously)

Conclusion

As a general rule, you can store Peeled bananas by dipping them into lemon juice, white vinegar or a water solution with crushed vitamin C then put them in the fridge with these methods you can store them for almost one month.

For a long time storing you can store peeled bananas by freezing them using airtight ziplock bags by this method you can store bananas for up to 6 months.

On other hand,

unpeeled bananas can be stored by wrapping the top part of the banana or by using an ethylene gas absorber tool.
